Background In 1994, applicants for assistant positions at Vogue were handed four typed pages of 178 names and asked to identify every one on the spot. People, places, institutions, cultural ephemera. It wasn't a trivia exercise. It was a filter for the kind of shared fluency that made someone useful in those rooms.
Update This is a version for 2026. Forty-five questions across literature, film, art, fashion, architecture, photography, music, dining, and the institutions that shape taste. Not trending topics or algorithm-friendly references, but the ones that endure. The quiz tracks your score by category so you can see exactly where your blind spots live.

Output: score by category, honest verdict.

I built it because it's fun. It's fun to test what you know, fun to find out where the gaps are, and fun to realize the gap between "I've heard of that" and "I could actually tell you what it is" is wider than you think. If you'd survive the Vogue interview, you'll know.
